Show 1206 Audio Book part 1 of 2  Night by Elie Wiesel

Overview

A New Translation From The French By Marion Wiesel

Night is Elie Wiesel’s masterpiece, a candid, horrific, and deeply poignant autobiographical account of his survival as a teenager in the Nazi death camps. This new translation by Marion Wiesel, Elie’s wife and frequent translator, presents this seminal memoir in the language and spirit truest to the author’s original intent. And in a substantive new preface, Elie reflects on the enduring importance of Night and his lifelong, passionate dedication to ensuring that the world never forgets man’s capacity for inhumanity to man.

Night offers much more than a litany of the daily terrors, everyday perversions, and rampant sadism at Auschwitz and Buchenwald; it also eloquently addresses many of the philosophical as well as personal questions implicit in any serious consideration of what the Holocaust was, what it meant, and what its legacy is and will be.

Author Bio: Elie Wiesel is the internationally celebrated author, Nobel laureate, and spokesperson for humanity whose decision to dedicate his life to bearing witness for the Holocaust's martyrs and survivors found its earliest and most enduring voice in Night, his penetrating and profound account of the Nazi death camps. Born in the town of Sighet, Transylvania, he was a teenager when he and his family were taken from their home in 1944 to the Auschwitz concentration camp, and then to Buchenwald. Night is the terrifying record of Elie Wiesel's memories of the death of his family, the death of his own innocence, and his despair as a deeply observant Jew confronting the absolute evil of man.

Elie Wiesel is the author of more than forty internationally acclaimed works of fiction and nonfiction. He has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States of America Congressional Gold Medal, the French Legion of Honor, and, in 1986, the Nobel Peace Prize. He is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities and University Professor at Boston University.

An autobiographical narrative in which the author describes his experiences in Nazi concentration camps, watching family and friends die, and how they led him to believe that God is dead.

Show 1204 Documentary- The Gift of Life.

To watch the video documentary visit-

http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/the_gift_of_life

Details

THE GIFT OF LIFE, hosted by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, explores the sanctity of life as a moral issue and looks at the lives of individuals who were nearly the victims of an abortion, but through God's grace were spared. Some went on to great accomplishments. Some may be your neighbors and friends. These stories are all around us. They help us define the culture of life.

THE GIFT OF LIFE also profiles leaders in the Pro-Life movement; those who believe that all other issues pale in comparison to whether we respect and honor others in the same way we want to be treated. Historically, America has been a shining example of a culture that respects life. But with the Roe v. Wade decision, we, as a society, exchanged our sense of responsibility toward human life for a greater heralding of the right to terminate it.

There is inherent and intrinsic worth and value in every human life regardless of that person's age, stature, functional capacity, ancestry, personal assets, last name, level of education, or occupation. Contempt and indifference toward any life can become contempt and indifference toward every life, including our own.

Show 1201 Documentary-  Still Point In A Turning World  Ronald Reagan and his Ranch

This is an audio version of the video documentary.

Economic catastrophe; unending war; spiritual decline: Ronald Reagan came to power during the darkest days of Cold War America. He turned malaise into a renewed belief in America itself, forever changing the course of modern history. Young America's Foundation presents a film by award-winning director Stephen K. Bannon: Still Point in a Turning World, the definitive examination of Ronald Reagan's beloved ranch and its personification of his philosophy and values. Ronald Reagan's Rancho del Cielo, the 'Ranch in the Sky', was not just a respite from the chaos that his Presidency encountered, but also a living embodiment of the values he held dear; where hard work and self-reliance showed themselves in the principles he championed for all Americans: Freedom, Prosperity, and Victory. Explore the Ranch as few have, in this moving film, and see why it "cast a spell" on the man who became one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

Show 1200 Audio Book Part 2 of 2 Demonic-  How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America by Ann Coulter

This show consists of an audio book excerpt.  Chapter 6. The French Revolution.

Overview of the Book

The demon is a mob, and the mob is demonic. The Democratic Party activates mobs, depends on mobs, coddles mobs, publicizes and celebrates mobs—it is the mob. Sweeping in its scope and relentless in its argument, Demonic explains the peculiarities of liberals as standard groupthink behavior. To understand mobs is to understand liberals.

In her most provocative book to date, Ann Coulter argues that liberals exhibit all the psychological characteristics of a mob, for instance:

Liberal Groupthink: “The same mob mentality that leads otherwise law-abiding people to hurl rocks at cops also leads otherwise intelligent people to refuse to believe anything they haven’t heard on NPR.”

Liberal Schemes: “No matter how mad the plan is—Fraternité, the ‘New Soviet Man,’ the Master Race, the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, Building a New Society, ObamaCare—a mob will believe it.”

Liberal Enemies: “Instead of ‘counterrevolutionaries,’ liberals’ opponents are called ‘haters,’ ‘those who seek to divide us,’ ‘tea baggers,’ and ‘right-wing hate groups.’ Meanwhile, conservatives call liberals ‘liberals’—and that makes them testy.”

Liberal Justice: “In the world of the liberal, as in the world of Robespierre, there are no crimes, only criminals.”

Liberal Violence: “If Charles Manson’s followers hadn’t killed Roman Polanski’s wife, Sharon Tate, Clinton would have pardoned him, too, and he’d probably be teaching at Northwestern University.”

Citing the father of mob psychology, Gustave Le Bon, Coulter catalogs the Left’s mob behaviors: the creation of messiahs, the fear of scientific innovation, the mythmaking, the preference for images over words, the lack of morals, and the casual embrace of contradictory ideas.

Coulter traces the history of the liberal mob to the French Revolution and Robespierre’s revolutionaries (delineating a clear distinction from America’s founding fathers), who simply proclaimed that they were exercising the “general will” before slaughtering their fellow citizens “for the good of mankind.”

Similarly, as Coulter demonstrates, liberal mobs, from student radicals to white-trash racists to anti-war and pro-ObamaCare fanatics today, have consistently used violence to implement their idea of the “general will.”

This is not the American tradition; it is the tradition of Stalin, of Hitler, of the guillotine—and the tradition of the American Left.

As the heirs of the French Revolution, Democrats have a history that consists of pandering to mobs, time and again, while Republicans, heirs to the American Revolution, have regularly stood for peaceable order.

Hoping to muddy this horrifying truth, liberals slanderously accuse conservatives of their own crimes—assassination plots, conspiracy theorizing, political violence, embrace of the Ku Klux Klan. Coulter shows that the truth is the opposite: Political violence—mob violence—is always a Democratic affair.

Surveying two centuries of mob movements, Coulter demonstrates that the mob is always destructive. And yet, she argues, beginning with the civil rights movement in the sixties, Americans have lost their natural, inherited aversion to mobs. Indeed, most Americans have no idea what they are even dealing with.

Only by recognizing the mobs and their demonic nature can America begin to defend itself.

Show 1197 The Russia-China Axis by Doug Shoen

Michael Medved talks to Doug Shoen author of The Russia-China Axis   The New Cold War and America’s Crisis of Leadership

The Russia-China Axis   The New Cold War and America’s Crisis of Leadership by Douglas E. Schoen and Melik Kaylan

The United States is a nation in crisis. While Washington’s ability to address our most pressing challenges has been rendered nearly impotent by ongoing partisan warfare, we face an array of foreign-policy crises for which we seem increasingly unprepared. Among these, none is more formidable than the unprecedented partnership developing between Russia and China, suspicious neighbors for centuries and fellow Communist antagonists during the Cold War. The two longtime foes have drawn increasingly close together because of a confluence of geostrategic, political, and economic interests—all of which have a common theme of diminishing, subverting, or displacing American power. While America’s influence around the world recedes—in its military and diplomatic power, in its political leverage, in its economic might, and, perhaps most dangerously, in the power and appeal of its ideas—Russia and China have seen their influence increase. From their support for rogue regimes such as those in Iran, North Korea, and Syria to their military and nuclear buildups to their aggressive use of cyber warfare and intelligence theft, Moscow and Beijing are playing the game for keeps. Meanwhile America, pledged to “leading from behind,” no longer does much leading at all. In The Russia-China Axis, Douglas E. Schoen and Melik Kaylan systematically chronicle the growing threat from the Russian-Chinese Axis, and they argue that only a rebirth of American global leadership can counter the corrosive impact of this antidemocratic alliance, which may soon threaten the peace and security of the world.

From the website-

Freedom's Charter is a 20-mini-episode series that takes you behind the scenes of the creation of the U.S. Constitution. Featuring interactive quizzes and discussions boards, this series is a must see for anyone who wants to learn more about the founding of America.

PART I - We the People

 1) What is a Constitution?

Unlike any other, the U.S. Constitution is a timeless document, declared to be the Supreme Law of the land, founded in the will of the people by the people, granting limited powers to government, reserving all other rights for the people.

 2) Who Are 'We the People'?

Rejecting the tyranny of monarchy, our U.S. Constitution's opening line begins a new chapter in world history -- a free, sovereign people establishes a government for themselves.

 3) Confederation of Slackers

After declaring independence from the throne, 13 American states craft a league of voluntary cooperation in 1781, but their Articles of Confederation fail from the start. Could Democracy be as tyrannical as monarchy?

 4) A River Runs Through It

Two men, sitting by a winter hearth along the Potomac in 1786, discuss state river rights that serve as the spring for a new government, and a debate over commerce that flows to this day. How did such a small problem give birth to a new energetic government that changes the world?

 5) Under a Cloak of Secrecy

There would have been no Constitution if the Framers' debates had been public. Today, "we the people" rebel against the very idea of secrecy, but it was essential to success.

 6) Rules for Radical Republicans

America’s Founding Fathers adopt a handful of extraordinary rules that preempt political posturing in order to create what historians have called "The Miracle at Philadelphia."

 7) Hamilton Hearts Monarchy

Alexander Hamilton, a highly-decorated Revolutionary War Hero, sees the dangers of democracy so clearly that he advocates for an “elected monarchy” during the Federal Convention of 1787. His proposal stuns the delegates.

 8) Get Wilson!

No one knew the dangers of mob rule better than James Wilson, who had seen it first hand through the barrel of a gun. But when it comes time to decide how to choose a president, Wilson stands virtually alone advocating direct election by the people.

 9) President of These 11 States

With one great roll of the dice, the Founding Fathers put the entire future of the republic at risk. Their dangerous ratification scheme narrowly averts disaster.

PART II - Constitutional Chaos

 10) Electoral College Chaos, 1788-1792

Constitutional flaws in the presidential election process force Alexander Hamilton to work behind-the-scenes to ensure Federalists prevail with George Washington and John Adams at the helm, narrowly avoiding a divided executive branch.

 11) Electoral College Chaos, 1796-1800

Hamilton's backroom maneuvers save the first two presidential elections from chaos, but when Washington refuses to seek a third term, mayhem erupts. The election of 1800 nearly fails to find a president, and proves that the Constitution needs amending.

 12) Genesis Becomes Undoing: Inter-state Commerce

Encouraging inter-state commerce is fundamental to the new government, but presents complications caused by currencies, transportation, and taxation. Could the seed of the U.S. Constitution germinate into its greatest threat?

 13) Genesis Becomes Undoing: The Commerce Clause

The Framers simply intended to make commerce 'regular' among the states: smoother, fair, less hassle. But the rapid expansion of the American economy from state-to-state presented a new kind of growth and prosperity with its own set of constitutional challenges for the Supreme Court.

 14) Madison Was Wrong?

To get the Constitution ratified, James Madison had to persuade anti-federalists that the sovereign states wouldn't be overwhelmed by an all-powerful, consolidated national government. In fact, the Constitution contains multiple safeguards against federal usurpation. At least, that's what Madison thought.

 15) Madison Was Really Wrong

Madison believed the states would rise up to thwart any attempt by the federal government to strip the states of their sovereignty. But the threat came from an unanticipated direction, and it turned the U.S. Constitution turned upside down.

 16) The Oldest-Newest Amendment

Madison's long-delayed “2nd Amendment” regarding Congressional pay finally reaches ratification two centuries later, as the 27th Amendment. What took so long?

 17) The Oldest-Newest Amendment, Ratified by 38 States

A Texas college student writes a mediocre paper that rekindles a flame lit in 1789. He embarks on a one-man mission to amend the constitution state-by-state, and succeeds.

PART III - The Final Arbiter

 18) Who's in Charge Here?

Is your state government sovereign, or does the federal government trump the states? Follow the debate that guaranteed a unique arrangement called "concurrent jurisdiction."

 19) Supreme Final Arbiter

Why should five Supreme Court Justices hold all the power to interpret the Constitution? They don't. The Framers built 10 layers of protection into the Constitution to ensure our sovereignty. Ultimately, "We, the People" supersede any and all Supreme Court decisions because we hold the power to amend the U.S. Constitution. 38 states is all it takes.

 20) Freedom’s Charter: ‘We the People’

Despite subtle erosions of Liberty, we still hold the keys to our constitutional republic. Not only do we retain the right to alter or abolish any form of government, we reserve all remedies to reject any form of tyranny or suppress any power that proves destructive to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness.

Show 1191 Documentary- The Conservatives

America stands at a precipice- broken government, broken trust, broken dreams. We as a nation have a clear choice between two starkly different philosophies to determine our future. Will we continue on the path of socialism, which insists on a dependent citizenry for its power, or will we seek to return to our roots and love of freedom where "government that governs least, governs best"?

The Conservatives is a film that makes a powerful argument for freedom - and the basic American concept of "Live Free or Die."

Show 1189 Hugh Hewitt 1 of 2  A Path Appears   Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity

Hugh begins a 90 minut ineterview with Nicholas Kristof, New York Times op-ed columnist, and winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, discussing his new book, A Path Appears  Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity, co-authored by his wife, Sheryl WuDunn.

Overview

An essential, galvanizing narrative about making a difference here and abroad—a road map to becoming the most effective global citizens we can be.

In their number one New York Times best seller Half the Sky, husband-and-wife team Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn brought to light struggles faced by women and girls around the globe, and showcased individuals and institutions working to address oppression and expand opportunity. A Path Appears is even more ambitious in scale: nothing less than a sweeping tapestry of people who are making the world a better place and a guide to the ways that we can do the same—whether with a donation of $5 or $5 million, with our time, by capitalizing on our skills as individuals, or by using the resources of our businesses.

With scrupulous research and on-the-ground reporting, the authors assay the art and science of giving, identify successful local and global initiatives, and share astonishing stories from the front lines of social progress. We see the compelling, inspiring truth of how real people have changed the world, upending the idea that one person can’t make a difference.

We meet people like Dr. Gary Slutkin, who developed his landmark Cure Violence program to combat inner-city conflicts in the United States by applying principles of epidemiology; Lester Strong, who left a career as a high-powered television anchor to run an organization bringing in older Americans to tutor students in public schools across the country; MIT development economist Esther Duflo, whose pioneering studies of aid effectiveness have revealed new truths about, among other things, the power of hope; and Jessica Posner and Kennedy Odede, who are transforming Kenya’s most notorious slum by expanding educational opportunities for girls.

A Path Appears offers practical, results-driven advice on how best each of us can give and reveals the lasting benefits we gain in return. Kristof and WuDunn know better than most how many urgent challenges communities around the world face today. Here they offer a timely beacon of hope for our collective future.

Show 1187 Book- The First Family Detail   Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents

Michael Medved talks to the author Ronald Kessler.

Overview of the Book

As in a play, presidents, vice presidents, and presidential candidates perform on stage for the public and the media. What the nation’s leaders are really like and what goes on behind the scenes remains hidden. Secret Service agents have a front row seat on their private lives and those of their wives and children.

Crammed with new, headline-making revelations, THE FIRST FAMILY DETAIL: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents by Ronald Kessler tells that eye-opening, uncensored story.

Since publication of his New York Times bestselling book In the President’s Secret Service, award-winning investigative reporter Ronald Kessler has continued to penetrate the wall of secrecy that surrounds the U.S. Secret Service, breaking the story that Secret Service agents who were to protect President Obama hired prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia and revealing that the Secret Service allowed a third uninvited guest to crash a White House state dinner.

Now in this new book, Kessler presents far bigger and more consequential stories about our nation’s leaders and the agency sworn to protect them. Kessler widens his scope to include presidential candidates and former presidents after they leave the White House. In particular, he focuses on first ladies and their children and their relationships with the presidents.

From observing Vice President Joe Biden’s reckless behavior that jeopardizes the country’s safety, to escorting Bill Clinton’s blond mistress at Chappaqua, to overhearing First Lady Michelle Obama’s admonitions to the president, to witnessing President Nixon’s friends bring him a nude stripper, to seeing their own agency take risks that could result in an assassination, Secret Service agents know a secret world that Ronald Kessler exposes in breathtaking detail.

THE FIRST FAMILY DETAIL reveals:

·       Vice President Joe Biden regularly orders the Secret Service to keep his military aide with the nuclear football a mile behind his motorcade, potentially leaving the country unable to retaliate in the event of a nuclear attack.

·       Secret Service agents discovered that former president Bill Clinton has a blond mistress who lives near the Clintons’ home in Chappaqua, New York. Within minutes of Hillary Clinton’s leaving, the woman—codenamed Energizer by agents—shows up to be with Bill and stays every day while the likely future presidential candidate is away.

·       The Secret Service covered up the fact that President Ronald Reagan’s White House staff overruled the Secret Service to let unscreened spectators get close to Reagan as he left the Washington Hilton, allowing John W. Hinckley Jr. to shoot the president.

·       Secret Service agents have been dismayed to overhear Michelle Obama push her husband to be more aggressive in attacking Republicans and to side with blacks in racial controversies.

·       Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan diverted agents from protecting President Obama and his family at the White House and ordered them instead to protect his assistant at her home and illegally retrieve confidential law enforcement records as a favor to her.

·       Because Hillary Clinton is so nasty to agents, being assigned to her protective detail is considered a form of punishment and the worst assignment in the Secret Service.

·       Secret Service agents were ordered to ignore security rules and allow the SUV carrying actor Bradley Cooper to drive unscreened into a secure restricted area when President Obama was about to deliver his speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

·       Vice President Joe Biden has racked up costs to taxpayers of a million dollars to fly to and from his home in Delaware on Air Force Two. His office tried to cover up the costs of the personal trips.

·       Because the Secret Service refused to provide enough magnetometers at his campaign events, Mitt Romney regularly left himself open to assassination by giving speeches to crowds that had not been screened.

·       Vice President Joe Biden swims nude at the vice president’s residence in Washington and at his home in Delaware, offending female Secret Service agents.

Show 1185 Please Stop Helping Us- How Liberals Make It Harder for Blacks to Succeed

In Please Stop Helping Us, Jason Riley examines how well-intentioned welfare programs are in fact holding black Americans back. Minimum-wage laws may lift earnings for people who are already employed, but they price a disproportionate number of blacks out of the labor force. Affirmative action in higher education is intended to address past discrimination, but the result is fewer black college graduates than would otherwise exist. And so it goes with everything from soft-on-crime laws, which make black neighborhoods more dangerous, to policies that limit school choice out of a mistaken belief that charter schools and voucher programs harm the traditional public schools that most low-income students attend.

Citizens United Productions present Occupy Unmasked

While the Liberal establishment and mainstream media portray the Occupy Wall Street movement as organic and nonviolent, Occupy Unmasked reveals the sinister, organized, and highly orchestrated nature of its leaders and their number one goal: Not just to change government, but to destroy it.

Led by hugely influential conservative visionary, the late Andrew Breitbart, Occupy Unmasked delves deep beneath the surface of the Occupy movement to show its dark anarchist roots. Behind the largely naïve students and legitimately concerned citizens looking for answers stand those who advocate the use of violence, black bloc operations, and intimidation as protest tactics - the same tactics they used during the anti-war protests of the 1960's, anti-nuclear weapons protests of the 80's, WTO protests of the 90's, and the IMF protests of recent years.

Former leftists turned patriotic citizen journalists Brandon Darby, David Horowitz, Pam Keys, Anita MonCrief, Mandy Nagy, Lee Stranahan, and others take viewers into the Occupy camps around the country to see first-hand the truth of what is happening and who is at the heart of the movement. Exclusive footage and eyewitness accounts tell the story of the criminal activity and raw brutality in the camps - much of which has not been reported by the mainstream media.

Directed by Stephen K. Bannon (The Undefeated, Generation Zero) and produced by David N. Bossie (Generation Zero, Perfect Valor), Occupy Unmasked is an eye-opening look at a startling movement that could have a dangerous impact on the future of America.
