It happened so quickly: in 2008, the housing market went bust, leading to a global economic collapse. He describes how a powerful phalanx of elite liberals, including Bill Clinton, Robert Rubin, Andrew Cuomo, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Janet Reno, Deval Patrick, Henry Cisneros, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Charles Schumer, and many others, aggressively pushed banks to make trillions of dollars in loans to individuals who should never have received them. Meanwhile, Clinton forged a new form of state capitalism in which the big Wall Street financial companies were repeatedly bailed out with their profits intact from a series of costly errors -- which only led them to take ever larger and more dangerous risks. The inevitable result? The bursting of twin bubbles in mortgages and mortgage-backed derivatives, leading in turn to a global economic collapse.

 We're not out of the woods yet -- not by a long shot: Schweizer shows that liberal activists are working with the Obama administration today to lay the groundwork for future bubbles in not only in real estate, but also in health care, the auto industry, and "green" technologies. Two problems there. #1, the corruption appears too massive:

But Tony, who has just begun serving his 12 year prison sentence, says there's no shortage of people in Miami waiting to take his place.

Asked how many people in Miami were doing this, Tony said, "I'd say at least 2,000 people. At least 2,000, 3,000 companies."

He estimated that less than 5% of these companies were legitimate.

And that's just Miami. #2: Government bureaucratic intervention will only encourage crooks to become more sophisticated while punishing legitimate companies - and increase the bureaucracy - by forcing them to fill out endlessly more paperwork.

Per MN Public Radio via Kaiser Health News:

Medicare fraud is difficult to find and prosecute without whistleblowers, says MN federal prosecutor Gerald Wilhelm. "'Medicare cases are often what I call the death of a thousand ankle bites,' Wilhelm said. 'Every bad claim is a dollar, but there are a billion bad claims so it's a billion dollars, and so to look at all of those claims is impossible.'" While some cases are obvious, "many cases fall into a gray area that mean second-guessing a physician's decisions." But "[t]he Medicare statute itself prohibits the government from interfering with the practice of medicine. Wilhelm said the question with Medicare is often whether a clinic billed the government for a more complex procedure than it performed or than the patient needed. He said it's like buying a Chevrolet and charging the government for a Cadillac."

And as much as MSM would like to portray Obama as the 1st Enlightened One to attain the presidency, not so fast. Kim Brandt, Medicare's director of program integrity, told Kroft, ""[O]ur primary focus over the past years has been to tighten our enrollment standards to make it so it's much harder for people like that to be able to get in the program, and to be able to commit that kind of fraud."

Well, that "primary focus" hasn't borne any antifraud fruit.

Brandt added, "Well, it really does come down to the size and scope of the Medicare program, and the resources that are dedicated to oversight and anti fraud work."

And the "size and scope" of nationalized healthcare would only be Medicaid on steroids."

 Thomas Sowell analyzes the recent housing boom and bust, beginning with the underlying economic causes that artificially inflated housing costs in certain markets. He points the finger directly at political decisions in Washington - particularly involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - that enabled and promoted the financing of an unsustainable housing bubble in which the collapse of prices in a few inflated markets rapidly evolved into a national crisis. Muslims dominate or nearly dominate important European cities, including Amsterdam and Rotterdam, Strasbourg and Marseille, the Paris suburbs and East London. Islam has challenged the European way of life at every turn, becoming, in effect, an "adversary culture.â

 The result? In Reflections on the Revolution in Europe, Caldwell reveals the anger of natives and newcomers alike. He describes guest worker programs that far outlasted their economic justifications, and asylum policies that have served illegal immigrants better than refugees. He exposes the strange ways in which welfare states interact with Third World customs, the anti-Americanism that brings European natives and Muslim newcomers together, and the arguments over women and sexthat drive them apart. Show 435 Heaven and Earth - Professor Ian Plimer's new book . Michael Medved talks to author about Human Induced Climate Change.

 "This is a very powerful, clear, understandable and extremely useful book. Ian Plimer fully exploits his unique scientific background in geology, his life-long academic experience, and his broad, truly interdisciplinary knowledge to dismantle the currently popular, politically correct but rationally untenable and indefensible position that the Earth is approaching catastrophic climate change and that we have to react â at all costs â to prevent it.

 Professor Plimer argues that the undergoing climate change is not unprecedented in history and that the temperatures in the 20th Century are not outside the range of natural variability. He rejects the unscientific idea that the explanation of climate change can be reduced to one variable (CO2), the proposition that there is a strong relationship between measured temperature and CO2 emissions, and the almost religious belief that we will stop climate change by reducing CO2 emissions. He rightly assumes that humans will be able to adapt to any future coolings or warmings.

 He also convincingly criticizes the UN, the IPCC, UK and US politicians as well as âHollywood show business celebritiesâ. He strictly distinguishes science and environmental activism, politics and opportunism. The book I wrote two years ago âBlue Planet in Green Shacklesâ comes to very similar conclusions but I have to say that if I"d had a chance to read Professor Plimerâs book, my book would have been better.â (VÃclav Klaus.)

The hypothesis that humans can actually change climate is unsupported by evidence from geology, archaeology, history and astronomy.

 The Earth is an evolving dynamic system. Current changes in climate, sea level and ice are within variability. Atmospheric CO2 is the lowest for 500 million years. Climate has always been driven by the Sun, the Earthâs orbit and plate tectonics and the oceans, atmosphere and life respond. Humans have made their mark on the planet, thrived in warm times and struggled in cool times.

The hypothesis that humans can actually change climate is unsupported by evidence from geology, archaeology, history and astronomy. The hypothesis is rejected.

 A new ignorance fills the yawning spiritual gap in Western society. Climate change politics is religious fundamentalism masquerading as science. Its triumph is computer models unrelated to observations in nature. There has been no critical due diligence of the science of climate change, dogma dominates, sceptics are pilloried and 17th Century thinking promotes prophets of doom, guilt and penance.

 When plate tectonics ceases and the world runs out of new rocks, there will be a tipping point and irreversible climate change.

Donât wait up.

 Ian Plimer is Professor of Mining Geology at The University of Adelaide and Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at The University of Melbourne where he was Professor and Head (1991-2005). He was previously Professor and Head of Geology at The University of Newcastle (1985-1991). His previous book, A Short History of Planet Earth, won the Eureka Prize.

 Synopsis: It's time to take back our country. Now. It's that simple. It's that urgent.

 So begins Dick Morris and Eileen McGann's latest and most important book. They say that we must act before President Barack Obama fully implements his radical political agenda.  Show A look inside the fairness doctrine and its impact on politics and free speech in American talk radio. Michael Medved talks to author Brian Jennings who is one of the nation's top talk radio programmers who served as National V.P.

Freedom of speech. It is our most cherished privilege as Americans, guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution since 1791. But at the dawn of a new presidential administration, an epic battle is looming -- a battle for our airwaves that could sharply curtail or silence altogether the freedom of expression that distinguishes America from the average dictatorship. The target of this battle is conservative talk radio.

If key Democrats have their way, the principles of the Federal Communications Commission's Fairness Doctrine will once again be enforced and allow government to control the content heard on free radio, a mandate that will have far-reaching implications for all media.

During the Reagan administration the FCC voted to stop enforcing the Fairness Doctrine, which required all licensed broadcasters to present "balanced" viewpoints on controversial issues.

Conservative talk radio burgeoned, giving rise to the father of conservative talk, Rush Limbaugh, and such hosts as Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Michael Medved, Neal Boortz, Laura Ingraham, and others. The format was a smash hit -- resonating with listeners from coast to coast and giving a powerful voice to the conservative movement. Soon such programming, attracting an estimated 50 million listeners weekly, dominated the airwaves where liberal talk radio failed. Popular, profitable, outspoken, powerful, influential -- it's what the American people wanted, and its success was the Democrats' worst nightmare.

Now, the principles of the Fairness Doctrine threaten to be reinstated -- if not directly, then through back-door tactics involving ownership of stations. Under cover of being "fair," they will prove to be anything but: They will be used as a means of censorship by those with contempt for conservative talk radio. With our current Congress firmly under Democratic control, the future of talk radio -- indeed, freedom of speech for all Americans -- is under direct attack.

 Second interview- Thomas Sowell and a Conflict of Visions Filmed on October 21, 2008.  Sowell describes the critical differences between interests and visions. Interests, he says, are articulated by people who know what their interests are and what they want to do about them. Visions, however, are the implicit assumptions by which people operate. In politics, visions are either "constrainedâ or "unconstrained.â A closer look at the statements of both McCain and Obama reveals which "visionâ motivates their policy positions, particularly as they pertain to the war, the law, and economics. His 1987 book, A Conflict of Visions, was re-released in 2007.

 Thomas Sowell has studied and taught economics, intellectual history, and social policy at institutions that include Cornell, UCLA, and Amherst. Now a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Sowell has published more than a dozen books. 

 Economist Thomas Sowell is the Rose and Milton Friedman Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution. He is the author of numerous books including Affirmative Action around the World (2004), Basic Economics (2004), Applied Economics (2003), and, most recently, Economic Facts and Fallacies. His nationally syndicated column appears in more than 150 newspapers from Boston to Honolulu. Sowell was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2002; in 2003, he received the Bradley Prize for intellectual achievement.

Synopsis- Is the weather truly getting worse? When it comes to global warming, dire predictions seem to be all we see or hear. Climatologists Patrick Michaels and Robert Balling Jr. explain why the news and information we receive about global warming have become so apocalyptic. The science itself has become increasingly biased, with warnings of extreme consequences from global warming becoming the norm. That bias is then communicated through the media, who focus on only extreme predictions. The authors compellingly illuminate the other side of the story, the science we aren't being told. This body of work details how the impact of global warming is far less severe than is generally believed and far from catastrophic.

According to these supposedly unbiased studies, conservatives are mean-spirited, greedy, selfish malcontents with authoritarian tendencies. Oddly enough, the TV special shows how the media censors Christians, which is exactly what these two stations did!

They said the program was "controversial." The stations do not consider showing two lesbians or two homosexuals kissing or getting into bed with each other controversial. The stations do not consider all the profanity they air controversial. They regularly show network programs advocating the homosexual agenda, but those programs are not considered controversial. However, a special showing of Christians being silenced is controversial!

The manager of the Columbus station told AFA the station would not air the program because telling the truth about homosexuality did not represent "positive Christianity." Are we moving to a time in the near future when local pastors whose services are broadcast will be banned because their sermons call the practice of homosexuality a sin?

In standard histories of the so-called "Red Scare" of the 1950s, Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-Wis.) is depicted as a lying bully who falsely named helpless victims in the U.S. State Department and other government bureaus as Communists or Soviet agents. Lying and baseless charges of subversion were the supposed essence of McCarthy's method. History has judged him such a loathsome figure that to this day, some fifty years after the Army-McCarthy hearings, people hurl the term "McCarthyism" to attack any perceived witch-hunt. But now, in Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy, veteran journalist M. Stanton Evans shows not only that this portrayal of McCarthy and his cases is mistaken -- but that virtually everything else that we've been told about McCarthy and his "era" is false.

Relying almost exclusively on primary source documents buried in U.S. government archives -- including troves of previously unexamined FBI files, formerly missing State Department records, telephone intercepts, and heretofore unknown data from congressional investigations - M. Stanton Evans has unearthed the hidden history of America's backstage Cold War.  Systematic high-level efforts to cover up the facts about other McCarthy cases -- included a sweeping secrecy order issued by President Truman in March 1948, a still more extensive order by President Eisenhower in May 1954

 How the Washington Post and New York Times loudly supported "executive privilege" and presidential secrecy measures -- as long as they were directed against McCarthy

 How Truman forces sought, in the 1948 showdown between Soviet agent Alger Hiss and ex-Communist witness Whittaker Chambers to discredit and indict, not Hiss, but Chambers

 The extensive backstage collusion between the State Department and the Tydings committee supposedly investigating McCarthy's charges -- plus concealment efforts including 35 pages of disappearing transcript

Still other disappearing records -- including numerous key documents from the National Archives and other official data sources -- many of which were recovered by the author

 How Soviet secret agents and pro-Red forces conspired on a global basis to make sure Japan attacked America -- not Russia -- in the 1941 run-up to Pearl Harbor

 High-level orders issued during World War II to ensure that Communists and fellow travelers got official jobs, then were protected from anti-Red security investigations

Elected on a buoyant tide of promises to balance the increasingly uncontrollable national budget and reduce the catastrophic unemployment rate, the charismatic President instead made dramatic changes to federal programming that directly contradicted his campaign promises.  Price fixing, court packing and regressive taxes were all hidden in the alphabet soup of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal.  These programs increased the financial strain on many and discouraged entrepreneurs from taking business risks that could have revived the national economy.  The New Deal survives in the form of many current government programs such as farm subsidies, minimum wage laws and welfare programs.

 Since the early 1980s, the United States has experienced a wave of prosperity almost unprecedented in history in terms of wealth creation, new jobs, and improved living standards for all. Under the leadership of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, Americans changed the incentive structure on taxes, inflation, and regulation, and as a result the economy roared back to life after the anti-growth, high-inflation 1970s.

 Product Description- Ana Montes appeared to be a model employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). Known to her coworkers as the Queen of Cuba, she was an overachiever who advanced quickly through the ranks of Latin American specialists to become the intelligence community's top analyst on Cuban affairs. But throughout her sixteen-year career at DIA, Montes sent Castro some of America's most closely guarded secrets and at the same time influenced what the United States thought it knew about Cuba. When she was finally arrested in September 2001, she became the most senior American intelligence official ever accused of operating as a Cuban spy from within the federal government. Unrepentant as she serves out her time in a federal prison in Texas, Montes remains the only member of the intelligence community ever convicted of espionage on behalf of the Cuban government.

This inside account of the investigation that led to her arrest was written by Scott W. Carmichael, the DIA's senior counterintelligence investigator who persuaded the FBI to delve deeper into Montes activities. Although Montes did not fit the FBI's profile of a spy and easily managed to defeat the agency's polygraph exam, Carmichael became suspicious of her activities and, with the FBI, over a period of several years developed a solid case against her. Here he tells the story of that long and ultimately successful spy hunt. Carmichael reveals the details of their efforts to bring her to justice, offering readers a front-row seat for the first major U.S. espionage case of the twenty-first century. She was arrested less than twenty-four hours before learning details of the U.S. plan to invade Afghanistan post-September 11. Motivated by ideology and not money, Montes was one of the last "true believers" of the Communist era. Because her arrest came just ten days after 9/11, it went largely unnoticed by the American public. This book calls attention to the grave damage Montes inflicted on U.S. security--Carmichael even implicates her in the death of a Green Beret fighting Cuban-backed insurgent in El Salvador and the damage she would have continued to inflict had she not been caught.

 About the Author- Scott W. Carmichael, the senior security and counterintelligence investigator for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), served as the lead case agent for the DIA on the Ana Montes espionage investigation. He has been investigating attempts by foreign intelligence services to penetrate DIA operations worldwide for nearly twenty years. Prior to that he was a Chinese-Mandarin linguist in the U.S. Navy and a special agent of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. His contributions toward the successful resolution of national security matters have earned Carmichael the DIA Civilian Expeditionary Medal and Award for Meritorious Civilian Service, the Defense Intelligence Director's Award, the Department of Defense Counterintelligence Award, and the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement, among other awards and various forms of recognition. He lives with his wife and three sons in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

 From the book-  In June 2007 civil war broke out in the Gaza Strip between two rival Palestinian factions, Hamas and Fatah. Western peace efforts in the region always focused on reconciling two opposing fronts: Israel and Palestine.
