On Glenn Beck’s GBTV show, he schools his listeners on the ways of communism by stating that “When I say they are going to drag you out into the streets and kill you, I mean it.” Beck exposes the real truth of communism in five must-read books:

  1. The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression.

  1. Oral History Project of the Commission on the Ukraine Famine.

  1. From the Gulag to the Killing Fields: Personal Accounts of Political Violence and Repression in Communist States.

  1. Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness.

  1. Modern Times Revised Edition: The World from the Twenties to the Nineties.

The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression

This book uncovers the number of atrocities committed by communists over the years and in various countries that followed Marxist beliefs. In essence, the book reveals all the killings that resulted from the following of communistic ways. Simply put, communism is death and Marxists are doing the killing. By Stéphane Courtois and others.

Oral History Project of the Commission on the Ukraine Famine

At least 7 million people died in the Ukraine, according to the Commission on the Ukraine Famine. Beck shares that these statistics make sense and argues that socialism does not work because it requires those in power to kill the people in the country that are responsible for making essential goods, such as the farmers responsible for growing the food.

From the Gulag to the Killing Fields: Personal Accounts of Political Violence and Repression in Communist States

From the Gulag to the Killing Fields documents firsthand accounts from the survivors of communist concentration camps from around the world at takes a revealing look at communism in practice. These testimonials uncover the fruitlessness that communism truly spreads. In this case, the primary sources that survived reveal that communism in practice does not and cannot work.

Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness.

In Cass Sunstein’s book he discusses how the Government gives people the “nudge,” rather than a push or shove to make the “right choices”. While it is not directly about communism or Marxism, it fits into the theme of the other books quite well. The book’s authors uncover that people have choices, whether they make good ones or bad ones, through “nudging” you can direct people to the choices you want. These people who have the power to shape decisions can “overreach or make mistakes”. The freedom of choice is what prevents others from overreaching or making bad choices and therefore should be allowed to happen and not hindered or manipulated.

Modern Times Revised Edition: The World from the Twenties to the Nineties.

What you’re taught in college is that Stalin and other Marxist leaders were not violent. However, according to Beck, Stalin’s first action was to kill all the shop owners, kill all the capitalists, kill all the industrialists, and to take over the farms by killing the farmers. These leaders were violent right from the start. Then when you take everything away from the people, they become violent too and the problem simply perpetuates.

Beck also establishes that Marxism ends in violence every single time. He mentions it is not a hate thing, it’s a human thing. Marxists pit classes against classes, telling one class that the other has taken something from them, which causes human nature to kick in and results in dissension among the people.
