Show 184 Free to Choose 1980 PBS television mini series. Volume 5 and 6 out of 10. Free To Choose® began as an award winning PBS television series featuring Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize-winning economist. Free To Choose was also a book written by Milton and Rose Friedman. It was the best selling non-fiction book of 1980. The book and TV series have been translated into over 2 dozen languages. 12.5MB 54 minutes.

Free To Choose is about freedom, the interrelationship of personal, political and economic freedom. Free To Choose is about the ideas of Milton and Rose Friedman, ideas that still dominate public policy debates decades after they were first proposed. Free To Choose is about those who refined and continue to extend these ideas.

We’re pleased to provide you with an audio version of this 1980 PBS television series. Please view entire television series free at http://www.ideachannel.tv/

Volume 5 - Created Equal  (1980)
The Declaration of Independence says, “all men are created equal.? Friedman explains that this did not mean all persons should or will have equal talents or income. Equal opportunity to better one’s self, and the right to personally benefit from the gains realized, are consistent with freedom. Equality of results requires force. Taking from some to give to others destroys freedom and removes the incentive for creating new wealth. Friedman visits India, U.S. and Britain.

Volume 6 - What’s Wrong with our Schools  (1980)
Parental choice and parental responsibility in the education of children is the U.S. tradition and is consistent with a free society. Centralized government control has eroded freedom and adversely affected the quality of education. The poor help pay for education for the future rich. Friedman has long advocated using vouchers to solve the problem. He explains why. Friedman visits U.S. and Britain.
